Why do some people buy iPhones over Android phones? Are they really better

Because iPhone is idiot - proof. Seriously, you can't go wrong. It doesn't let you do anything wrong.

Ok better way to word this is pick up and use. You don't have to go through every setting to get what you want, the phone guides you through that.

This is my Huawei p20 lite. How many of those do you think my grandma knows the function of? Ok, maybe I am exaggerating. But think of iPhone vs android as PC vs console gaming. Console gaming there is no “you need a better graphics card” or “map out keyboard controls to suit your play style”. Just plug and play. PC gaming on the other hand, unless you're planning to spend thousands on a pre built you actually put together your own computer. Even if you buy a pre built there's selecting the right keyboard, mouse, monitor, etc. And the setup. Android is like the PC. Apple is like the console.

Back to mobile stuff. When buying an Android phone, there's a lot to choose from. If you don't know and understand specs you can easily pay a bunch for a disappointing device.

Looks nice doesn't it? If I didn't tell you the price, and the brand didn't matter, what turns you away? Those who don't know what “snapdragon 439” means would probably not pick out anything wrong. Except there is. Snapdragon 439 is weak and cannot run most android games smoothly. You'll probably lag when multi tasking with a bunch of apps open.

Looks older than the previous doesn't it? Big bezels, the “battery” number is smaller and the screen is smaller too. Except this one is better. Much better. It runs fortnite mobile, the most demanding mobile game as of 2019.

This is part of the reason why people buy iPhones. There's one number, iPhone (insert generation) and if you buy the highest one available you will have zero outstanding problems. And who wants a new phone seemingly all the time these days? Teens. They already hate math and science, why bother with memorizing and comparing different models of CPU and learning why mediatek CPUs are not as good as Qualcomm with the exception of the G90T? You're probably confused already. This just proves my point.

Better example

P20 lite. No home button, notch, streamlined.

The regular p20, with better chipset. A huge bezel with home button. Without looking at chipset or the word “lite” the p20 lite looks like it's a newer, better model. I got it because it's cheap, but this thing can be easily mistaken for a performance phone with a friendly price tag. Point is, buying an Android phone and trying to balance price, performance, camera, size, and brand trustworthiness just makes your head spin.

iPhones only started having a budget model starting iPhone SE, and even with that it had the same chipset as the iPhone 6s, the flagship at that time. With the X series and the 11, the difference was 1 extra camera and screen size. All performance features stay the same. You won't have a regular 11 lagging far behind a 11 pro Max. It's impossible to make a mistake buying the phone. Plus with apple's own stores, apple is just where people automatically go without thinking.
